Regularly taking hot showers with chlorinated water
poses a health risk. When chlorinated water is heated, chlorine gas is
released into the air and into our lungs and body. If you can smell the
chlorine, the concentration is already greater then 3.5 ppm (The lethal
concentration for ten minute exposures of chlorine is 600 ppm).
Chlorine reacts with the oils in the skin and causes dry skin. Chlorine also
has been linked to wrinkling and premature aging of the skin due to cell
deterioration.
One of the most effective way to remove chlorine from your shower is to
filter it through a KDF-55 media. This media has been proven to be more
effective than carbon media. When considering a shower filter, make sure the
filter media is 100% KDF-55. |
